The Birziet University Photographic Library This was one of our first projects and very much in spirit with the Foundation's initial agenda of helping young people to help themselves. The University of Birziet, acutely aware of how important media studies of all kinds are to Palestine's future, is trying to build a well resourced photographic department. Fundamental to this is a reference library both for the study of the impact of photography as well as information on the technical side (particularly relevant today with the arrival of digital technology). To this end the Foundation has funded the purchase of over 40 photographic books to establish the library. The Foundation intends to develop further its relationship with the Photographic Department. In addition to continuing to support the Department, the Foundation hopes to organise photographic exhibitions staged in association with photographic galleries and museums. Recently the Foundation raised funds to supply professional digital cameras to the department. |
