Silent Witnesses: The lives of children the world has forgotten
Children in many parts of the world are the silent victims of war, conflict and poverty. Physically, mentally and psychologically damaged they live in increasingly devastated landscapes nurtured by parents and grand parents who in their turn were childhood victims of long and intractable conflicts and chronic need.
Silent Witnesses are projects that bring together internationally renowned photographers, film makers and artists, that result in the publication of books and other media to help raise money and awareness.
Silent Witnesses promises to be a window into children's lives tracing the trajectory of their daily lives; at play, at school, at home, in hospital and amongst their families. In this way Silent Witnesses is a testament to the condition of children in forgotten and devastated parts of the world. We hope it will make a difference.
Our latest project was shot in Niger with the support of UNICEF UK and forms the basis of the Foundation’s third book Desert Faces, Silent Witnesses of the Niger Drought, which will be launched at the African Night event in November.
A photographic exhibition of work from Silent Witnesses: The Lives of Palestine's Children took place in Kuwait during December 2007. Signed limited edition prints and copies of the book are still available. Please contact Al Madad for further information. |
