In Lebanon, our specialist non-formal education hub, the Children’s Learning Centre (CLC), provides a secure and inspiring environment for both children and their parents, while our mobile Classrooms-on-a-Bus brings a safe space to learn to wherever it is most needed.

Al Madad established the Children’s Learning Centre (CLC) in 2015 with education partner Ana Aqra Association to serve the Syrian refugee community, and disadvantaged host community, in Baalbek. Baalbek was chosen in part due to its location in the Bekaa valley, a region with a very high concentration of Syrian refugees. The Classroom-on-a-Bus project launched in the same year, intended to provide equivalent access to safe learning environments to those living in more remote locations. The first bus travelled to Al Marj Village in the Bekaa Valley, then in 2016, an additional bus was purchased and both busses were remodelled and fully equipped to serve as mobile classrooms travelling across Lebanon.
