THE HOME PROJECT

Project - Social Integration via technical training and Greek language support
February 2021 – October 2022

In February 2021 we began work with Greek charity The HOME Project to fund language and vocational education for unaccompanied minor refugees, which we believed would give them the best chance to earn a living and to build futures for themselves off the streets.

In total, 50 young people were trained in the courses 'Barista', 'Barber' and 'Cook' and 12 entered the labour market. It was wonderful to see young people growing in confidence as they developed their skills and we hope that all will be able to apply their abilities at work in Athens or elsewhere.

Of the 30 Greek Language students, four achieved college scholarships. Given the importance of Greek language skills to those living in Athens, it is clear that the courses will have been beneficial to school and working life in Greece.
