1 January 2026 onwards (12 months)

AMF is proud to partner with the Refugee and Migrant Centre (UK). This project supports newly arrived children from Gaza to the West Midlands with urgent health needs, we will help them reintegrate into education, improve wellbeing, and develop confidence to thrive in their new communities.

Project activities:

• Providing four weekly group sessions (2 hours each) to support with English speaking and writing, Maths, and vocational skills for Gazan children under 18.

• Our homework clubs will provide one-to-one group tutoring led by RMC’s Education Manager and volunteers, and our ambassador school the local area.

• We will also have monthly creative sessions and trips such as educational trips to museums and library to promote wellbeing, inclusion, and friendship-build but most importantly a fun way of promoting learning.

• Our volunteers will provide guidance sessions to help parents understand the UK Education system and ways they could best support their children’s learning.

• Gazan children and their immediate parent will access in-house physiologist counselling support to help them cope with trauma and emotional distress.

The outcomes of the project will be:

• Improved Prospects: Gazan children will develop stronger English, numeracy, and digital skills, preparing them for school. They will feel more engaged and motivated in school which also leads to increased attendance and participation. The homework club will ensure that children have improved assessment results and are able to complete their homework when joining school.

• Enhanced Wellbeing and Resilience: Gazan children will report improved confidence, optimism, and reduced isolation. They will develop coping strategies through creative and social/educational activities.

• Social Inclusion: Gazan children will feel confident when building new friendships and included when onboarding their school journey in the West Midlands. Their parent will also gain understanding of education pathways and feel empowered to support. We will observe interaction, attendance, and participation during these workshops, as well collect case studies from parents to see the impact of these sessions and the difference we’re making.

• Empowerment: Gazan children will acquire the skills to prepare them for education. Their parent will also feel more confident in seeking employment opportunities to support themselves and their children making them independent. We will assess progression into mainstream education or further learning opportunities, and their improved social and academic outcomes. We will sustain participation and goal setting reported in follow-up evaluations.

To measure our overall success, we will monitor our attendance logs, collect feedback forms, case studies, and observation to ensure continues and lasting impact on their lives.
